A Style Guide to Eyelash Extensions

No glamorous look is complete without eyelash extensions. Long lush lashes make a woman look alluring, awake, and gorgeous. To some, applying false eyelashes can give the appearance of a face lift. It is no wonder why you see the hottest celebrities, TV personalities, and socialites sporting eye-popping LVL or 3D Russian lashes. With the growing demand for longer lashes, ladies everywhere flock to their nearest beauty salon to get lashes applied to their original lashes. The beauty industry offers an array of lashes for every price point.

There are several types of eyelash material to choose from. One of the most frequently purchased lashes is synthetic; they are usually inexpensive, and there are even some products that can be applied at home. They come in individual and strip form. Most of the products come with a glue adhesive that you apply to the extensions. Synthetic lashes give a more dramatic look; they can last up to four weeks with proper application. However, it is a fiddly process, and do not expect to get the glamorous and realistic effect from home sets to what you will achieve when a professional does the work.

For a more natural, lighter look, many designer lashes are made of human hair, mink, and silk. They require little to no mascara and can last anywhere from five to seven weeks. The eyelash extensions process at the salon would be the best option. Whether it is for a wedding, a special event of everyday wear, a trained professional can apply them seamlessly. The process will usually take around two hours.

First, you will be asked to lie on a table with your eyes closed. The stylist will separate your natural lashes one at a time. Next, the beautician will use tweezers to collect the eyelash extensions, place them on the adhesive and apply them to your lash line. This will continue until the stylist has completed both eyes.

Now that you have your new set of designer lashes, there are some steps you must take to maintain them. The most important tip is not to get your lashes wet. You want to avoid getting the new lashes wet for up to 48 hours. Therefore, avoid steam, exercise, swimming, or even splashing water and your face. Heavy shampoos, lotions, or products with an oil base can loosen up the adhesive on lashes. Avoid tugging on your lashes; if you want them removed before they naturally fall out in the unlikely event, it is advisable to have a professional stylist remove them.

Lash extensions will not last forever. As each extension is applied to your original lash, the extensions will fall off as your lashes come out as part of the natural lash cycles. You will probably find you need a top-up treatment every four weeks.

Eyelash extensions are a wonderful way to enhance your beauty. They are almost becoming a necessity, like getting a manicure and semi-permanent makeup. False lashes are a growing beauty trend that is perfect for everyday activities and special events.
