Right now I’m traveling to the wedding of one of my brothers. How sweet it is to take time to set everything aside for a moment to focus on love. In fact, it’s not only meaningful, it’s healthy.
Our cells physically respond to love by opening and relaxing, thus promoting the smooth flow of blood, fluids, and Qi throughout the body. Think about the last time you had a moment of love… for a cupcake, a flower, for your baby, for a book, a pet, or a loved one. On a micro level, your body released hormones that diminish pain and increase joy.
Follow that. Seek out love. Seek out small moments of opening and relaxing into life.
We’re heading into the season of Summer now, and according to Chinese Medicine, this is the time of year associated with love, joy, laughter, intimacy, passion, connecting on a heart-to-heart level, and lightening up and having fun. You’ll be hearing in our next podcast how some of us struggle with all this… Summertime Sadness happens to the best of us.
My prescription to you is to seek out a moment today to celebrate love. Whether that’s meeting a friend for Happy Hour, or sending someone a love note over social media (#celebratelove, #lovelikeyoumeanit, #loveRX), or curling up with a good book. It will do wonders for your heart.
Cheers to good health!
