Position Status: Part-time Employee (up to 20 hours weekly)

We are seeking a Community Experience Assistant who will help us provide our community with excellent customer service. While there are many aspects of this, the ideal candidate is a team player who knows the importance of having a community and is easily able to welcome others in feeling like they are a part of the larger whole here at Third Space Wellness.

We are seeking a candidate who understands that our center is a healing environment and that a part of what we do is providing a space where people feel un-judged and empowered to find ways to enhance their healing journey. As a part of this, the ideal candidates show a commitment to their own well-being, too. Each team member at Third Space Wellness is an example for our customers about being empowered about wellness while also being compassionate to those who need our help with this.

Specifically, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and skills and can speak about each of these in their own words in regards to how they utilize them in their current or previous employment and/or life experience:

  • Qualities:
    • Loyalty, trustworthiness, effectiveness and accountability, possesses stellar customer service skills (which is a combination of care + clear communication), attention to detail, and is creative in their own way.
    • This person understands their strengths and weaknesses, knows when to ask for help, and is coachable and ready to receive feedback and direction on projects as well as daily tasks.
  • Skill sets:
    • Customer Service: correspondence with clients (in person, via telephone, via email, via written letter); is comfortable coordinating communication between practitioners and clients to ensure clients receive support as needed, anticipate internal needs to support practitioners and teachers so that they can be efficient and serve their clients seamlessly, is welcoming and friendly no matter what is affecting their personal circumstances.
    • Computer and Internet literacy including and not limited to: working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet searches and purchasing, and the ability to learn and use Company software (e.g. online scheduling system, and e-marketing software).
    • General office skills, upkeep and reception: Ensuring that the office is operating in wellness itself including: facilities upkeep, materials and supplies availability, organization of materials and information, general cleaning (yoga studio, bathroom, kitchen, treatments rooms, etc.), supporting the flow of clients receiving their services in an efficient manner (check-in, check-out), and more. This position also includes a retail component: recording inventory, describing product benefits to clients when appropriate, and paying attention to visual merchandising/display.

Position Location: Third Space Wellness is located at 8001 Kennett Street, Suite B, and Silver Spring, MD. 20910.

Hours: This position offers up to 20 hours weekly, which includes shifts that can begin at 8:00 a.m. or complete at 8:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday) or from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Morning, evening and weekend shifts are required. On occasion shifts may include arriving before and staying after a special event off regular center hours as well as occasional light travel and participation at special events, such as a booth at a market.

Job Opening: Massage Therapist

Massage Therapist

Position Status: Part-time Employee; non-exempt

We are unique in that we are also committed to helping connect individuals with one another – to find community – so that people can get well and stay well together.

We are seeking a Licensed Massage Therapist who:

  • has completed their training at an accredited institution
  • is up-to-date with continuing education units
  • is current or is willing to become current in their First Aid and CPR certification
  • carries the appropriate Professional Liability insurance
  • is committed to lifelong learning to continually improve their abilities as a practitioner,
  • and who is enthusiastic about massage therapy as both a modality to help people relax as well as heal deeply.

The ideal candidate understands that our center is a healing environment and that a part of what we do is provide a space where people feel un-judged and empowered to find ways to enhance their healing journey.  

Additionally, the ideal candidate is a team player who knows the importance of having a community and is easily able to encourage others to feel like they are a part of the larger whole here at Third Space Wellness. Working as part of a team – a group practice – must be of equal interest; the best candidate has working knowledge of (or is willing to be trained to understand) how acupuncture (Chinese Medicine), yoga and massage are complementary modalities. Our practitioners are easily able to make referrals for these services where appropriate and support that our clients are using any or each of these modalities to tend their wellness.

Specifically, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and skills and can share examples and speak easily about they embody these:

  • Qualities:
    • Utilizes their skills as a massage therapist to help clients on their healing journey whether the client is coming in for a “de-stresser” or is using massage to heal and manage a chronic condition.
    • Loyalty, trustworthiness, effectiveness and accountability, possesses stellar customer service skills (which is a combination of care + clear communication).
    • This person understands their own strengths and weaknesses, knows when to ask for help, is coachable and ready to receive feedback and direction.
    • Is committed to being part of the Third Space Wellness brand; wants to be part of a team and community.
  • Skill sets:
    • Massage Therapy: appropriate use and application of touch including varying levels of pressure, different massage modalities to address clients unique needs, appropriate use of materials (cups, oils, sheets/blankets) to provide a safe, appropriate and high quality massage, knows when to make an external referral. Can be a beginner or seasoned licensee.
    • Customer Service: correspondence with clients (in person, via telephone, via email, via written letter); can compassionately problem-solve with clients who need massage support, is welcoming and friendly no matter what is affecting their personal circumstances; can support clients in scheduling repeat visits as well as with the purchase of products that will support their wellness.
    • Computer and internet literacy including and not limited to: ability to learn and use Company software (e.g. online scheduling system, Customer Service Relationship (CRM) tools, and e-marketing software), and electronic mail
    • Business Savvy: Ability to build professional relationships with clients, other practitioners and businesses in order to build a client base, is professional in communications, wears business appropriate attire when seeing clients.

Position Location: Third Space Wellness is located at 8001 Kennett Street, Suite B, Silver Spring, MD. 20910. 

Hours: This is a part time position requiring no less than two five-hour shifts each week (some evening and weekend availability is required) as well as occasional light travel and participation at special events, such as a booth at a market providing seated massage (for example). Saturday and afternoon/evening availability is preferred.

The ideal yoga teacher candidate understands that our center is a healing environment and that a part of what we do is provide a space where people feel un-judged and empowered to find ways to enhance their healing journey.

Additionally, the ideal candidate is a team player who knows the importance of having a community and is easily able to encourage others to feel like they are a part of the larger whole at Third Space Wellness. Working as part of a team – a group of practitioners, teacher and staff – must be of equal interest; the best candidate has working knowledge of (or is willing to be trained to understand) that all of the modalities we offer at Third Space Wellness are complementary modalities. Our practitioners and teachers are easily able to make referrals for these services and support that our clients are using any or each of these modalities to tend their wellness.

At Third Space we are looking for teachers who want to be part of our community and are willing to grow with us. We prefer teachers who not only teach our students but also practice with them (which is why we let our teachers practice at TSW for free). We also encourage our teachers to share their creative ideas with us to help meet the needs of our community through workshops and special classes.

    • Utilizes their skills as a yoga teacher to help clients with their yoga practice whether the student is new to yoga, practicing for stress relief, practicing for fitness and/or convalescence or for fun.
    • Loyalty, trustworthiness, effectiveness and accountability, possesses stellar customer service skills (which is a combination of care + clear communication)
    • This person understands their own strengths and weaknesses, knows when to ask for help, is coachable and ready to receive feedback and direction.
    • Is committed to being a part of the Third Space Wellness brand.
    • Will work with the team of practitioners to support clients who work with more than one Third Space Wellness practitioner.
  • Skill sets:
    • Yoga: appropriate use and application of yoga theories and practices, is not dogmatic in practicing yoga and understands that there is no “one right way” to practice yoga though exercises confidence in coaching students to practice safely. Interest in teaching private yoga sessions a plus. One year teaching experience preferred, beginners are welcome.
    • Professionalism & Customer Service: correspondence with managers, staff and clients (in person, via telephone, via email, via written letter); is welcoming and friendly no matter what is affecting their personal circumstances; can support clients in determining how to support their yoga practice; wears business appropriate attire when seeing clients or teaching; ability to build a yoga following.
    • Computer and internet literacy including and not limited to: ability to learn and use Company software (e.g. online scheduling system, Customer Service Relationship (CRM) tools, and e-marketing software), and electronic mail.

Position Location: Third Space Wellness is located at 8001 Kennett Street, Suite B, Silver Spring, MD. 20910. 

Hours: Class times will be negotiated between management and the teacher. Must be available to teach at least one regular class each week. May be requested to teach for special events and/or workshops.
